The little blue figures come from Belgium, not from the U.S. or Germany. They were created by the Belgian cartoonist Pierre Culliford, more famous as Peyo. He had a comic, called Johan et Pirlouit and in the ninth issue of the comic, the little creatures called " Les Schtroumpfs" appeared.

There are many different Smurf figures and most people do not know how many of them are the ORIGINAL SMURFS. Actually, there are 105 Smurf figures, which are considered to be the original ones. The most popular Smurfs are Smurfette and Papa Smurf.

According Peyo Smurfette is "very feminine." Reporters asked him to be more specific, so he went on to say: "She is pretty, blonde, she has all the characteristics of women.
